Poetry

Just thought I would post a poem from each one of my beautiful children

Clover Leaf
by Connor J

I hear my name
Over the loudspeaker
My quarter horse
Starts to dance
And spin,
Putting on a show
For the crowd
I feel the leather under me
One
Split
Second
I'm gone

Hooves pounding
Neck stretched
Leaning into the barrel
I can hear my mom
And coach yell
And I remember what
I'm supposed to do
Sit back
Drop my arm
Three quick turns
And we're back

Rose
Yori J

The rose
The ultimate sign
Of life
Love
And death

A pink rose
The first smell
You remember
In your mother’s hospital bed
The day you were born

A red rose
The first thing
You are given
On the night
Of your first dance

A white rose
A memory placed
With you
On the day of your
Funeral

The rose
The ultimate sign
Of life
Love
And death

My Family
by Elle J

My Mom
Is beautiful

My Dad
Takes care of me

My Sister
Is pretty

My Brother
Is handsome

I Love My Family

Graduation Day!

Today, June 20th 2007 Elle Rose graduated from Kindergarten! She was so excited, and had to have the perfect dress. We went shopping yesterday(Last minute Lizzy!) and God was smiling down on us, because she wanted a "Blue dress, with a twirly bottom". There on the rack at TJ Maxx was a leftover from Easter, and guess what! Blue dress, size 6, complete with twirl factor! Here she is, singing Springs School's version of This Little Light of Mine.

National Anthem

Yori was asked to sing the National Anthem for the last pep rally of the year. It was for a Teachers VS Kids softball game. It was a last minute thing (I mean they told him for sure that he was doing it that day), but he did a great job under pressure.

Tuskegee Airmen Honnored!!

Today we were privilaged to be a part of an honor that is a long time coming. Today, June 2nd 2007, Lee A Hayes received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honor bestowed by Congress for his service as a Tuskegee Airmen. Pop, along with his family and friends were invited to Grabreski Airbase in Westhampton Beach to have Congressman Tim Bishop present him with this great honor, along with a proclamation to be put before the United States Congress, thanking him for his service to our country and his help in paving the way for future generations of warriors for our great nation. We were all so very proud of him. Here are a few pictures, and a video of the soldiers stationed at the base saluting Pop. He had a line of people waiting to shake his hand and thank him in person. It was a grand day.
